Compounding Changes for Health and Wellness at 60
For many, turning 60 is a time to wind down. But for Marcy Schoenborn, founder of ShoFit, it marked a new chapter—one full of energy, health, and purpose. On the Compounding Change podcast with Shannon Davis, Marcy breaks it down for all of us in hopes of inspiring simple changes now for big results later.
Marcy’s journey wasn’t always easy. As a personal trainer with over four decades of experience, she seemed to be in perfect health on the outside. But in her 40s, things began to shift: “I started gaining weight, became pre-diabetic, and had high cholesterol. At 49, I was 60 pounds overweight.”
It was a wake-up call, and Marcy realized her poor nutrition had compounded into serious health issues. This prompted her to make a change that led to Compounding Change.
What followed was a deep dive into cellular nutrition, allowing her to heal from multiple diagnoses and shed the extra weight. “I went a holistic route, changed everything,” Marcy explains. This transformation not only restored her health but also reignited her passion for helping others. Today, Marcy runs ShoFit, where she guides clients through their own health journeys.
Host Shannon Davis highlights the powerful compounding effect of Marcy’s small daily changes. “People think they can't get in shape until they hit the gym, but you got in shape by eating right.” Marcy confirms, “Exactly. I got healthy, lost 60 pounds, then I went to the gym.” Her approach emphasizes the importance of focusing on nutrition first before diving into exercise routines.
As Marcy reflects on her path, she notes that helping others is her true passion: “It’s not selfish to put your health first... to buy the better groceries.” She encourages everyone, no matter their age or background, to start their own wellness journey. “I don't believe anyone is too far gone to get started on a health journey,” she says with conviction.
Marcy’s story serves as a reminder that no matter where you are in life, small, consistent changes can lead to big results. As she continues to thrive at 60, Marcy proves that it’s never too late to take control of your health and well-being. Small steps taken today can lead to big results in the future, due, of course, to the power of compounding change.
